7 Steps to Cleaning Your Grease Duct

A grease duct is an important part of any commercial kitchen. Not only does it help remove smoke and odors from the kitchen, but it also helps to prevent fires. That’s why it’s so important to keep your grease duct clean. Here are seven steps to help you do just that.

1) Unplug the exhaust fan or lock out the breaker. This is important for two reasons. First, you don’t want the fan to turn on while you’re cleaning it. Second, unplugging the fan will help prevent any electrical shocks.

2) Place the fan in a large pan or container. This will help to catch any dirt, grime, or debris that falls off of the fan as you’re cleaning it.

3) Prepare a cleaning solution. There is a variety of cleaning solutions that you can use. However, we recommend using a mixture of warm water and dish soap. This solution will help to break down any tough dirt or grime.

4) Clean the filter. The filter is one of the most important parts of the grease duct. It’s responsible for catching all of the dirt and debris before it has a chance to enter the ductwork. To clean the filter, simply remove it and scrub it with your chosen cleaning solution.

5) Let the air filter dry. Once you’ve scrubbed the filter clean, it’s important to let it dry completely before putting it back in place. This will help ensure that there isn’t any residual moisture that could lead to mold or mildew growth.

6) Clean exhaust fan. Now that the filter is out of the way, you can focus on cleaning the exhaust fan itself. Begin by scrubbing down the blades with your chosen cleaning solution. Once the blades are clean, use a vacuum attachment to remove any dust or debris from inside the housing unit.

7) Re-insert the filter. Once everything is dry, you can put the filter back in place and re-attach the exhaust fan. These seven steps will help ensure that your grease duct is clean and free of dirt, grime, and debris. By following these simple steps, you can help keep your kitchen safe and clean.

Cleaning your grease duct may seem like a daunting task but it’s actually quite simple if you follow these seven steps. By taking the time to regularly clean your grease duct, you can help prevent fires, extend its lifespan, and keep your kitchen safe and clean. Do you have any other tips for cleaning a grease duct?
